The Future of Barbecuing is Here...

As Weber announce the release of their 2010 range, we take a look at what we can expect in terms of new models and improvements on last year's.

The most significant enhancements coming from the new charcoal range include a brand new charcoal barbecue in the form of the One-Touch Deluxe and perhaps the most striking update comes courtesy of the Q Black Line, all of which we will look at in more detail across the next few chapters.

Weber Portable Range (Inc. Smokey Joe & Compact)

First up under the spotlight is the Weber Portable range which has doubled in size thanks to additional colours and sizes being available. As with the vast majority of the Weber Charcoal range, 2010 sees a new style handle with additional heat shield eliminating the problem of it getting too hot to handle during use - an issue that occurred when the nylon handles were introduced, replacing wooden ones some years back.

Weber Smokey Joe

As with last year, the Smokey Joe's are offered in a basic black 'Original' and coloured 'Premium Tuck and Carry' models.

  • New style handle with incorporated heat reflector

  • Side vent replaces bottom air vent allowing for better circulation

  • Now includes charcoal measuring cup

  • New Spring Green colour replaces dated Mint Green colour

  • Lid lock for carrying on Premium models doubles as lid holder

  • Estimated RRP: £49.99 (Original); £59.99 (Premium)

Weber Compact

Based around the original kettle shape but with a shallower bowl, the Weber Compact now comes in a 57cm diameter design as well as the 47cm. Ideal for those slightly larger camping parties.

  • New style handle with incorporated heat reflector
  • Now available in a 57cm size (Extra 25% cooking area)
  • Now includes charcoal measuring cup
  • Estimated RRP: 69.99 (47cm); £99.99 (57cm)

Weber One-Touch Series

So-called because of the patented One-Touch cleaning mechanism incorporated on these kettle barbecues, Weber have changed the names but not a lot else for 2010 besides the already mentioned heat shield handles and new design wheels. The 2009 Silvers have changed their name to One Touch Original where as the Gold has made way for the justified Premium (expect to pay £70-80 extra for the premium models against their 'Original' equivalents). Also new for 2010 is the Premium 67cm One Touch which includes a lid holder and built in thermometer.

Weber One Touch 57cm Deluxe

Deserving a special mention as Weber's only completely new model for 2010, the deluxe encompasses everything great about the 57cm Premium One Touch but with integrated side tables, a four legged design and built in thermometer. Billed as 'the ultimate charcoal cooking experience' by Weber themselves offers performance only rivalled by Weber's own aptly named Performer.

  • Two integrated Thermoset side tables
  • 2x Char-Basket fuel holders
  • Large 20cm new style wheels
  • Four legged design with wire shelf
  • Lid mounted thermometer

Weber Q Range

Unfortunately, despite a brand new look, the Weber Q range has not adopted any new features...in Weber's defence, it is hard to improve on perfection! The range already offers Gas, Electric, and Charcoal variations within its unique and recognisable design with a barbecue to suit all budgets and requirements.

Also rumoured to be released

Although at time of press not a lot is known about these additional new models, there is talk of a One-Touch Pro Classic (resembling a striped down performer) and an Open Cart Spirit E210 model to hit the market in early 2010 along with the rest of the Weber Range. As soon as more details are known, they will be added to this document. Keep checking back with us for updates on the complete 2010 Weber BBQ Range.
